In December 1937, Miner's Song and Dance Ensemble was created in the city of Stalino (now Donetsk). In 1959, the ensemble was renamed the Miners Song and Dance Ensemble "Donbass". For outstanding achievements in the development of national culture in 1966, the ensemble "Donbass" was awarded the honorary title "Honored". In 1968, the Donbass Ensemble was the only creative team, was awarded the Miner's Glory honorary badge of the 1st degree, and in 2006 it received the Academic status and was renamed the Honored State Academic Song and Dance Ensemble Donbass.
During its history, Donbass visited with concerts in Russia, Syria, Belgium, France, Greece, Spain, Italy, Canada and many other countries, became the winner of international festivals in the USA, Brazil, Korea, Spain and China, won two world wins festivals held under the auspices of UNESCO in Belgium and France (2001).
Currently, the ensemble is fully engaged in active creative activity: it takes part in all government events, holds charity concerts for residents of the Donetsk People's Republic, regularly tours, takes part in major international festivals, and also implements many cultural projects.
